Same smell, just a different year

Well we made it everyone after a very long sleepless journey from the Uk into Afghanistan.

Arriving back this time in Afghanistan brought back some memories from when I was here last back in 2009, the smell, noise and 24hr pace of life in a city that never sleeps, reminds you of what lies ahead for the next 6 months and it feels like I’ve never been away.

So with the weather now touching almost 30 degrees, its time to do some training and acclimatise in order to be ready for what lies ahead, whatever that may be.

So as I lay on my bed writing this around 4 hrs ahead of UK time, I wish you all a good night.

Regards Project Afghan.

Everyone back home is praying for your safety and the safety of all our troops.

Thought you might like a joke. Now, keep in mind, I don’t know many good jokes, so this is something I’ve done a search for. I will try to continue to provide you with a smile as you continue keeping us safe.

A blonde, wanting to earn some money, decided to hire herself out as a handyman-type and started canvassing a wealthy neighborhood. She went to the front door of the first house and asked the owner if he had any jobs for her to do.

“Well, you can paint my porch. How much will you charge?”
The blonde said, “How about 50 dollars?” The man agreed and told her that the paint and ladders that she might need were in the garage. The man’s wife, inside the house, heard the conversation and said to her husband, “Does she realize that the porch goes all the way around the house?”
The man replied, “She should. She was standing on the porch.”

A short time later, the blonde came to the door to collect her money.
“You’re finished already?” he asked. “Yes,” the blonde answered, “and I had paint left over, so I gave it two coats. “Impressed, the man reached in his pocket for the $50. “And by the way,” the blonde added, “that’s not a Porch, it’s a Ferrari.”
