21 days later

Our final exercise is now finally over, we have now completed 21 days of training, exercising, testing and being tested to our limits in order to be ready for deployment to Afghanistan. So this is it, the next time we do these things and see or live these situations, we’ll be in Afghanistan doing this for real and with no mistakes allowed.

I hope you have enjoyed the past few weeks worth of images and blogs, these posts/images were to give you the viewer, reader, follower an insight into what to expect, so as we rest our aching bodies on our coach journey home back to Edinburgh and with some of the lads resembling zombies (as shown by the image) our thoughts turn to the final few weeks of preparation and a chance to say our goodbyes to loved ones, family and friends, because soon we’ll be swapping the English countryside for the barren tribal lands of Helmand Provence Afghanistan.

So the next time it will be for real, the next time were at War and your coming with us.

Project Afghan is about to get a whole lot warmer.

About robgrimesphotography

Experienced and enthusiastic, I have a real passion for photography that I have gained over the years and that shines through in my pictures and my portfolio. I specialise in capturing those spontaneous moments that we otherwise could lose, either at your wedding or on a relaxed family shoot of your choice. I am always happy to talk about photography, so if you think I might be the right person to take your photographs then give me a ring to discuss your pictures, they are yours after all. Also a full time serving soldier in the Infantry in the British Army, but soon to be leaving the forces after Project Afghan finishes.
